 | | A very contemporary mailbox. A few years ago it was avante garde, but it seems that time and the rest of the world have finally caught up to it.

 | | A little engine that could have, and probably did, a long long time ago. Now it doesn't have anything left to prove, and it decorates the landscape next to a restaurant in Ithaca.

 | | This is the Mohonk. To quote a line from a Cliff Eberhardt song (Cliff is an East Coast folkie friend of my old Best Coast buddy Jimmy Bruno), "It costs you a week's worth of wages just to rest your eyes." Here it's more like 2 weeks' worth. Needless to say, I didn't get a room, but I did hike around the grounds quite a bit -- that I could afford to do.

 | | A row of rockers on the porch at the Mohonk. It's a good place to have tea and cookies in the afternoon after a hike, and think about how much money you'd have to make to get a room at this place without thinking twice. And then maybe to think about what you would really do with the money instead of getting a room for the night.

 | | A very cool pig. He hangs out in front of the pork store on Court Street in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, and he was happy to pose for me on a recent Saturday morning.

 | | My friend Joe (who also appears in Friendsville) and his bride-about-to-be Jill a few moments before they said those "I dos" on Halloween of 2004.
